Media Sharing

-Use technology and other information tools to organize and display knowledge and understanding in ways that others can view, use, and assess.

The assignment was to search 25 INCREDIBLE sites online for my content area. It is to be shared with fellow colleagues in your content area, which in my case is 9th grade World Geography. Also I can benefit from it as I incorporate in my class as well. Students can use the websites at home to study and do research for your class. Take a look.

-Create products that apply to authentic real-world context.

This assignment was challenging. I went outside of my comfort zone and have created my own network geared to my content area. The creation of my network was to share lesson plans, resources, and more to classmates and fellow colleagues. This will allow communication with colleagues and sharing of World Geography ideas. See for yourself.

-Creative and artistic formats to express personal learning.

As for personal learning, I have learned about what a social bookmark website is. Social bookmark allows you to save and store bookmarks online instead of your browser. I am still learning how to organize the bookmarks I have and get better as I continue to use it. Here's mine.

Social Networks Assignment

Social networking first began in 1966 to 1967 with a small group of researchers on the internet. However, social network is the fastest growing communication via internet today. There are at least five hundred social networks online to choose from. Facebook, myspace, ning, and flickr just to name a few. Social network will be discussed through definition, content area, and criteria should be used to make a selection of it.
First of, what is social networking? Social networking is a group of individuals with the same interest. One particular social network allows a two way communication. Its on their server and not on the individuals account. In addition, it has privacy setting which is a plus for users. An example of this social network is facebook.
Second, social network should used in content areas of teaching. It is a great presentation for a professional development day at a school. In addition, it is a best way to engage students in the content area. So student to content, student to student, and student to teacher will open a new avenue to learning. However, keep in mind of legal/ethnical issues when posting on a social network. Some things to consider before starting one are age criteria, copy rights, especially student permission as well as parent permission.
Lastly, criteria should be used to make a selection of a social network. How much time does an individual want to spend on it? Another, will an individual be able to expand his or her curriculum as well as their knowledge? Also, will an individual spend his or her time on it? Moreover, is the individual willing to spend money for a social network that may benefit him or her in their teaching profession?
In all, social network have positive and negative insights. Keeping up to par with the lastest education technology can change a classroom view and spark a learning enthusiasm for the students. Also social networking is a great tool by using it wisely. Also this is a learning experience for a teacher and can be shared with colleagues. Social network impacts us for the good.
